About Jacob

Jacob Steph is a Director, Actor, and Filmmaker from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Like many artists, Jacob's love for storytelling began very young, orchestrating small productions of the most dramatic scenes he could think of in the backyard of his childhood home. Growing up in Albuquerque, Steph grew to value his Hispanic heritage, learning that value of family and hard work.

He later went on to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, studying in both New York City and Los Angeles, receiving his BFA in Acting and Content Creation. It's here where he further developed his craft, creating stories that were true to the diverse community that he grew up in. At AMDA, Jacob studied everything from Shakespeare to contemporary film. As a result, he developed a deep love for all sides of his artistry, and began to be cast in productions across the country, while also juggling his studies.

College opened the opportunity for Jacob to write and stage two of his own theatre productions. The first, a comedy about a pair of robots who gain their free will and must now go on a mission to save robomanity. The second, a political drama about a group of National Guardsmen who must make life changing decisions to take a stand for their community. Professionally, Steph's characters notably represent marginalized groups, usually dealing with drug abuse or poverty.

His work lies in a constant push and pull between the comically hilarious and the painfully real struggles of life. Steph continues to find ways to give back to his community and makes his art for the main reason to give a voice to the voiceless.
